Bill received a bachelor’s degree in Forestry Operations and a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate from Paul Smith’s College in 2018. He joined Redstart in 2016 while attending college and became a full-time employee upon graduation, now serving as a consulting forester working mainly with private landowners.
Bill also helps Redstart with riparian and upland tree plantings, invasive plant control, and other ecological restoration work. He enjoys connecting with all types of people through forestry-related workshops and field trips, and always aims to get young people excited about the natural world.
Bill is a licensed forester in Vermont and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Green Mountain Division of the Society of American Foresters (SAF). In addition to his work at Redstart, Bill enjoys carpentry, logging, landscaping with native plants, raising pigs, and playing hockey as much as possible. He lives in Orange, VT.
